Description
‘Happy Days’ – by Keith Hill
A summer scene at Rushden railway station mid to late 1950’s. The print is countersigned by Brian Jakes and Dave Sawford who both worked the branch in the 50’s.
On a summer’s afternoon in the late 1950’s the ‘Rushden Gusher’ pulls into Rushden station. On it’s return from Higham Ferrers the young ‘National Serviceman’ will say farewell to his girlfriend and board the train. The elderly gentleman tends his allotment, the policeman crosses the bridge and an RB66 from nearby RAF Chelveston flies overhead…happy days!
