At 0510 hrs June 4th 1942, a PBY.5 (cal sign ‘AV58’) of VP-23 and under the command of Lt. Howard Ady USN, spotted a Japanese scout aircraft from one of the carriers heading for Midway. At 0530 hrs they located the carrier force. Seconds later Lt. Ady’s radio operator sent this message: “Enemy Carriers!”.

B-17's of the 92nd Bomb Group (Heavy) RAF Alconbury, flying the mission on July 26 1943 to Hannover. It was for his actions during this mission that Flight Officer John C. Morgan was awarded the Medal of Honor.
